HMS Victory found
Interesting news for fellow readers interested in the Royal Navy in the 18th Century — they’ve finally found the HMS Victory. Carrying 100,000 Portuguese gold coins, at least according to the research, as part of the cargo of a convoy the French blockade had bottled up at Lisbon. This isn’t Nelson’s ship at Trafalgar, but a previous 100-gun first-rate ship that sank in 1744.
